Mo fhoraois dhílis, my dear forest.
For the old friend you thought you had lost
For the new friend who seems so familiar
For the friend you didn’t know you had
“Mo fhoraois dhílis, my dear forest” is a short poetry film in honour of my new found love in Irish forests. It is a call to reconnecting with nature in its most simple form: the one that touches our heart and soul. After feeling disconnected for many years from the enchanting landscapes that form our dear forests, Ireland has strangely yet deeply allowed me to reclaim a sense of belonging in these spaces. Wandering through the wet woods and muddy paths, surrounded by trees older than I would ever get, I felt humbled, powerless, grateful. I questioned my relationship with nature, rejecting the colonial mindset to see it as a commodity waiting to be exploited, a territory to be claimed or fetishized, but as a sacred homelands of indigenous nations.
